We’re allowed to explore this region after the 1932 Mass Tresspass where ramblers peacefully protested which changed the legislation allowing people to walk freely on access land, this eventually lead to the formation of the National Parks and the Peak District was the first, founded in 1951. Kinder Scout - The highest point in the Peak District, it has unbelievable views across moorland, waterfalls and endless walks. The Derwent Valley is steeped in history as it was home to the Dambusters. The Dam has castle like turrets either side. At 36m tall and 330m long it impounds 8,600 kl of water.ĭerwent Dam Viewpoint - If you want to be blown away by the power of water, then this is the spot for you. The Dam itself was built over 11 years, from 1901 to 1912. The Howden Resevoir lies across two counties, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire due to its Y-shape. Howden Dam - located in Hope Valley, this is an ideal spot for any kind of day activity, cycling, walking or just taking in the scenery.
Worth the climb and there is even a waterfall on route.
The Trinnacle - This spot is the furthest north in the Peak District of all the pins, its an unusual three pronged rock formation which can be found as part of a circular walk around some reservoirs.
