I used new valve body/case gaskets and reinstalled the valve body.I installed a new filter and everything was installed correctly.The shift kit solved my harsh,late 1-2 shift and into 3rd gear was perfect.The trans began to slip when entering 4th.Then the next morning my father had to use the truck and 3rd gear began to slip with 4th as well,but the 1-2 shift was perfectly fine.I drained the fluid and it was a little on the dark side so now i'm assuming my 3-4 clutches are smoked. I had my father install the two slugs that came with it to block off two holes in the plate according to transgo since my 700R4 has the auxilary valve body.After my father installed the slugs,they were not flush with the plate.I was a little concerned about this,but going against my better judgement I installed it anyway. 296 low reverse boost valve and modified the pressure regulator valve.At that time,I installed a new transgo separator plate. I removed the valve body and installed the kit per transgo instructions,installed the. The 700R4 came from a 89 chevy K1500 pickup with about 100,000 miles on it.It was mated to a 305 TBI engine.I have since mated it to a '97 6.5 turbo diesel.Before I mated it to the diesel,I installed a 1200 stall TCI 3 lug diesel converter,new 2-4 band(just for peace of mind),corvette servo with the longer acdelco servo pin,sonnax diesel govenor and cap.At that time,I opted to install new transgo unbreakable pump rings.All that went very well and I put a few thousand miles on it with no problems at all.īut I did not like the long,harsh 1-2 shift.It seemed when the tranny warmed up the 1-2 shift became alot softer which is what I wanted.When cold it would produce a long,hard 1-2 shift.I adjusted the TV cable properly,but it did not resolve the issue.I did'nt like the idea of reving a newly rebuilt diesel engine when cold and I wanted to remedy the situation.So then I decided to install a basic transgo shift kit.
